If getting fit is a goal or priority for you, then you need to make sure you allow time for it. A vague goal to 'go to the gym this week' won't do (trust me, I've tried it). The best way to make exercise happen is to be specific with your scheduling. Get out your diary or your schedule and plan it in, setting aside a specific time and a specific activity allowing you to put the wheels in motion. If it's written there in your diary then you are much more likely to make it happen.
If you don't have a diary or a schedule then I recommend making one. For busy parents trying to balance their families commitments, it is best to make two lists: one list of the necessary things you have to do during your week, and one list of the things you would like to do. Add the necessary things to your schedule in order of priority and then you will be able to see how much time you really have for those activities you would like to do. Your schedule can be as flexible or as detailed as you like, but making one will help you stay organised.
If you have a fitness goal that you are finding difficult to reach, set yourself a goal for today - add at least one fitness session to your weekly schedule this week. If you make it to that session, then try and make the same time/place again next week. Once that one weekly session becomes natural and easy you can add another. What are you waiting for - get scheduling! I hope it helps you find ways to keep that important new year fitness resolution!!
